Question 1

What kinds of businesses does Baseline44 work with?

Accepted Answer

Startups, SMEs, enterprises, banks, insurers, and governments. We're comfortable both shipping a lean MVP and delivering mission-critical systems in regulated environments.

Question 2

Do you only work with large enterprises, or also startups and SMEs?

Accepted Answer

Both. The same engineering discipline that serves a bank makes a startup's MVP something you can actually build on — not throwaway code you'll regret at scale.

Question 3

What industries do you have the most experience in?

Accepted Answer

Banking, insurance, government/fintech, healthcare, retail, and ecommerce. We've contributed to platforms in each.

Question 4

Have you built software for government clients before?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our team contributed to a national social payments platform disbursing funds to vulnerable households at scale, with reconciliation and audit at its core.

Question 5

Have you worked with banks or financial institutions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our team contributed to an internet banking platform and to an insurance platform for a bank-affiliated insurer.

Question 6

What's the difference between custom software and off-the-shelf SaaS?

Accepted Answer

Off-the-shelf is faster to start but bends your business to its shape and limits. Custom software fits your workflows, integrates with your systems, and is an asset you own — worthwhile when the process is core to how you compete.

Question 7

How long does a typical software project take?

Accepted Answer

A focused MVP can ship in a few weeks; a full platform typically runs a few months in phases. Use our Timeline Estimator for a rough range, then we refine it in a consultation.

Question 8

How much does a custom software project cost?

Accepted Answer

It depends on scope. Starter engagements begin around $6k, business platforms around $20k, and enterprise work is quoted to requirements. Our ROI and timeline calculators give you a starting picture.

Question 9

Do you offer fixed-price or time-and-materials pricing?

Accepted Answer

Both. We often fix price on well-scoped work after discovery, and use time-and-materials where requirements are still evolving. We'll recommend the model that de-risks your project.

Question 10

What does your development process look like?

Accepted Answer

Discovery, planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and support — incremental and transparent, with regular check-ins and working software early.

Question 11

Do you provide ongoing support after launch?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every engagement includes post-launch support, and we offer SLA-backed long-term support for systems that need it.

Question 12

Can you integrate AI into an existing system we already have?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We add AI capabilities — search, document processing, copilots, automation — to existing systems via well-scoped, secure integrations.

Question 13

What AI capabilities can you add to our product?

Accepted Answer

Support and sales agents, voice agents, document processing and OCR, semantic search, recommendations, predictive analytics, workflow automation, copilots, and report generation.

Question 14

How do you handle data security and compliance?

Accepted Answer

Security is designed in: threat modeling, encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, MFA, audit logging, and GDPR-aware handling of personal data.

Question 15

Do you follow a secure development lifecycle?

Accepted Answer

Yes — security reviews, dependency scanning, OWASP-aware design, and monitoring are part of how we build, not an afterthought.

Question 16

Can you modernize a legacy system without disrupting operations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We favor incremental strategies — strangler-fig migrations, API layers over legacy cores, and phased data re-platforming — so the business keeps running throughout.

Question 17

Do you build mobile apps as well as web apps?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We build cross-platform mobile apps and native-quality experiences backed by the same engineering rigor as our web work.

Question 18

What technologies do you build with?

Accepted Answer

A modern, maintainable stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and major cloud providers, with AI tooling where it adds value.

Question 19

Can you build an MVP quickly if we're validating an idea?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We scope MVPs around the riskiest assumption and ship in weeks — built to extend, not to throw away.

Question 20

Do you sign NDAs before discovery calls?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We're happy to sign an NDA before discussing anything sensitive.

Question 21

Who owns the code and IP once the project is delivered?

Accepted Answer

You do. On delivery, you own the code and IP for the work we build for you.

Question 22

How do we get started — what's the first step?

Accepted Answer

Book a free consultation. We'll discuss your goals, constraints, and the outcome you're after, then propose a path.

Question 23

Do you offer a free consultation or audit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer a free consultation and a free digital transformation audit to help you scope the opportunity.

Question 24

Can you work with our existing in-house development team?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We augment and mentor in-house teams as well as deliver end to end — whatever gets you the best result.

Question 25

What happens if our requirements change mid-project?

Accepted Answer

We expect change. Our incremental process and clear scoping make it straightforward to re-prioritize without derailing the budget or timeline.
